THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING TO CREATE AND OPERATE THE EL YUNQUE TASK FORCE TO ENHANCE PUBLIC SAFETY, LAW ENFORCEMENT PRESENCE AND VISITOR MANAGEMENT ON THE EL YUNQUE NATIONAL FOREST. THE TASK FORCE WILL PROVIDE DAILY PATROL COVERAGE, ASSIST WITH STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT, SUPPORT CLOSING PROTOCOLS, RESPOND TO INCIDENTS, AND ENSURE COMPLIANCE DURING PERIODS OF ELEVATED PUBLIC USE AND RECOVERY-RELATED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. ACTIVITIES ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE AUTHORITIES FOR JOINT ENFORCEMENT ON NATIONAL FOREST SYSTEM LANDS AND DIRECTLY SUPPORT FOREST SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE PROTECTION OF VISITORS, EMPLOYEES, AND FOREST RESOURCES.
