In plain English

This section states that the Secretary of Defense has waived a Trade Agreements Act prohibition for certain acquisitions supporting operations in Afghanistan. The waiver applies to products and services from SC/CASA states, as authorized by the U.S. Trade Representative. This matters because it allows DoD and GSA (on DoD's behalf) to acquire from these sources without the usual trade agreement restriction.

Applies to: Acquisitions by DoD and GSA on behalf of DoD in direct support of operations in Afghanistan

Key terms: SC/CASA states · Trade Agreements Act · waiver · direct support of operations in Afghanistan
