FAR 52.211-13 Time Extensions.
The codified text (eCFR, as of 2026-10-02). Under the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul ↗, agencies follow class deviations with new text for many parts while the formal rules go through the Federal Register: check the solicitation and your contract's clauses, which rule.
In plain English
This clause explains how time extensions work when a contract change delays construction work. Any extension depends on how much the change actually delays completion of the affected parts of the project. The change order may limit the extension to only the changed work and may also adjust liquidated damages under the new schedule.
Applies to: Construction contracts that include this clause
Key terms: time extensions · contract changes · change order · contract completion date · liquidated damages

The text
As prescribed in 11.503(c), insert the following clause:
Time Extensions (SEP 2000)
Time extensions for contract changes will depend upon the extent, if any, by which the changes cause delay in the completion of the various elements of construction. The change order granting the time extension may provide that the contract completion date will be extended only for those specific elements related to the changed work and that the remaining contract completion dates for all other portions of the work will not be altered. The change order also may provide an equitable readjustment of liquidated damages under the new completion schedule.
