How to read this
- Share of GDP: the amount as a percent of the state's gross domestic product (BEA, current dollars, the calendar year holding most of the fiscal year; years after 2025 use 2025). Spending isn't part of GDP one for one; this is a sense of scale.
- Connecticut state government payments (money paid out; source: Connecticut Office of the State Comptroller (OpenCT ledger)), not federal obligations. They include federal grant money the state spends, so don't add them to federal totals.
- Connecticut fiscal years run July to June (FY2027 started July 2026).
- Connecticut's ledger doesn't include state employee payroll, so its totals and payroll aren't comparable with Massachusetts or Delaware.
