FAR and DFARS › FAR Part 52: Solicitation Provisions and Contract Clauses › Subpart 52.2
FAR 52.215-5 Facsimile Proposals.
The codified text (eCFR, as of 2026-10-02). Under the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul ↗, agencies follow class deviations with new text for many parts while the formal rules go through the Federal Register: check the solicitation and your contract's clauses, which rule.
In plain English
This provision allows offerors to submit proposals by facsimile, and such proposals are treated the same as paper proposals. If a facsimile proposal is unreadable, the Contracting Officer must notify the offeror and allow resubmission, which is considered timely if the offeror follows the prescribed method and time. The Government may make an award based solely on the facsimile proposal, but the apparently successful offeror may be required to promptly submit the complete original signed proposal.
Applies to: Offerors responding to solicitations that include this provision
What it requires
- If requested by the Contracting Officer, the apparently successful offeror promptly shall submit the complete original signed proposal.
