FAR and DFARS › FAR Part 52: Solicitation Provisions and Contract Clauses › Subpart 52.2
FAR 52.253-1 Computer Generated Forms.
The codified text (eCFR, as of 2026-10-02). Under the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul ↗, agencies follow class deviations with new text for many parts while the formal rules go through the Federal Register: check the solicitation and your contract's clauses, which rule.
In plain English
This clause lets a contractor submit required FAR Standard or Optional Forms as computer generated versions instead of the printed forms. The computer version must keep the same name, content, and order of data elements, and must show the form number and edition date. If a different version is submitted, the parties' rights and obligations are still based on the required form.
Applies to: Contractors submitting data on FAR or agency forms
What it requires
- Keep the name, content, and sequence of data elements unchanged when using a computer generated form
- Include the Standard or Optional Form number and edition date on the computer generated form
- For agency unique forms, include the agency form number and edition date unless agency regulations prohibit computer generated versions
