Government contract lists: open bids, awards and small business
Where to find a list of government contracts for bid, a list of contracts already awarded, contracts for small businesses and contracts ending soon, federal, state and local.
Government contracts open for bid
Federal agencies post contract opportunities over $25,000 on SAM.gov (Contract Opportunities). SpendQuery lists the open ones with a one-page brief on each: the incumbent if there is one, who else wins this work and the contracting office. You can filter by industry, set-aside, agency, state and deadline, and get new notices by email.
States, counties and cities post their bids on their own procurement portals; SpendQuery collects open state and local bids from a growing set of governments.
Government contracts already awarded
Every federal contract award is public on USAspending.gov, usually within days (Defense contracts about 90 days late). The Department of Defense also announces contracts of $7.5 million or more each business day. SpendQuery shows recent awards by agency, industry and company, and each company's and agency's contracts on its own page.
Government contracts for small businesses
Contracts set aside for small businesses, or for 8(a), HUBZone, women-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned firms, are marked on each SAM.gov notice. Purchases between $15,000 and $350,000 are generally reserved for small businesses. SpendQuery's set-aside pages show which agencies use each program and which companies win.
Contracts ending soon
A contract nearing its end date is often re-competed, and the follow-on is usually solicited months ahead. SpendQuery lists federal contracts ending in the next 12 to 24 months with the incumbent, how the work was bought and the likely follow-on notice.
By line of work and by state
For a list in one line of work (janitorial, HVAC, IT services, construction and 50 more), or in one state, start from the pages below: each lists the open notices, the agencies that buy, the companies that win and the contracts ending soon.
