Pest control government contracts
In fiscal year 2026, federal agencies obligated $42.80M on pest control contracts so far (Defense contracts arrive about 90 days late, so the year's total is still rising). Department of Defense bought the most, followed by Department of Veterans Affairs. 5 pest control contract opportunities are open now on SAM.gov, and 23 contracts worth $43.42M with options end in the next 12 months.
Pest management for military bases, VA medical centers, federal buildings and food-service facilities, often integrated pest management with scheduled and on-call service.
Set-asides: at least 46% of FY2026's pest control contract dollars ($19.48M) went through contracts set aside for small businesses, most through small business and service-disabled veteran-owned set-asides. Many orders under larger contracts carry no set-aside code, so this counts only what is reported. How set-asides work →

How the government buys pest control work
- Applicators usually need a state pesticide applicator license, and Defense installations follow the Department of Defense's integrated pest management rules.
- Service contracts over $2,500 fall under the Service Contract Act: the solicitation includes a Department of Labor wage determination, the minimum wages and fringe benefits you must pay on the contract. Price from it, not from your commercial rates.
- Much of the work is folded into larger facilities contracts; the prime contractors on those are worth approaching for subcontracts.
